Optimizing Google My Business: Posts

Hey everybody. It’s Nate here again with Stellar Blue Technologies. And today we are going to take a deeper look at the posts section of our GMB profile. As you can see, I’ve got our post section open here. The best way to kind of think about this section is really as kind of a notification section for your customers via Google or through Google. So people that might be searching for your business and you just want to keep them updated on different things that are going on. So you can see here, we have the option to do a COVID-19 update. So if your, business was closed you can put an update out there saying, “Hey we’re reopened,” or “We’ve got new hours and anything kind of dealing with the situation that we find ourselves in here right now. You can do an offer as well.

If you’re running a specific promotion for like Black Friday or Cyber Monday are great examples at this point, you can add that offer. The one thing that you are going to have to do here is add a start and an end date. Which I don’t know of any e-commerce companies out there that wouldn’t have an end date on their offers. So you can do it like a sponsored ad or an update. It’s this kind of just a what’s new kind of a post just to keep your business kind of front and center with, with those users. If you do specific events. So if you’re, if you’re having a virtual event or you have a, an annual event that does need to be virtual this year, you can add an event and let people know that, Hey, this is, this is going to be coming up.

Lastly, you can do a post specific product. So if you have a product that you want to highlight during a specific time period you can certainly do that in the posts section. Again, the more active you are within your Google My Business the more favorably Google tends to really view your profile and really tends to recommend you. I know that there is probably a pretty large focus right now for businesses that do social media? One of the easiest ways to do that is if you’re scheduling a post on social media copy and paste that into a post on GMB and vice versa. Unfortunately, Google doesn’t like to play nicely with any sort of marketing automation tools like Zapier or Hootsuite or anything like that. Maybe, they did update that recently, I can’t remember. I can’t recall, but yeah, the best way to kind of think of it is, you know, if you, if you’ve got an offer or something that’s out there trying to keep your Google, My Business profile as updated as possible definitely can help out.
