5 Social Media Trends for 2019

Marketing Social Media

Social media has taken on a demanding presence in the world we live in today; we all know this. It’s made available everywhere—from our computers, to our phones, and even our watches. People are constantly connected at all times of the day. With so many people connected, it is a perfect place for businesses to make themselves known. However, that can be easier said than done, and trends are always changing. Here are 5 easy trends you can follow this year to help boost your social media presence!

1. Keywording to Increase SEO impact

Keywording and developing long-form content for marketing can help increase your SEO (search engine optimization) and give you an edge. Incorporate long-form keywords that clients will actually be typing into their search bars to increase SEO. If your webpage hasn’t been providing the results you’re hoping for, this may be a good place to start. It will help ensure that you are actually showing up when clients search for your services or products. Make sure these long-form keywords are on your social and web pages. Invest time into informative and insightful written content and posts to further increase SEO.

2. Focus on Social Listening

Listening to someone has moved from just face-to-face interactions to the social world. Learning to enact social listening by analyzing your social media platforms can help you personalize your messages and learn from follower’s comments. Take a look at both yours and your competitor’s pages. Where did you both succeed? Where did you both fail? Are there any patterns? Breakdown specific threads of conversation, phrases, and various other patterns. Use this information when forming your page content and posts. If customers are phrasing a service in a specific way, be sure to utilize that exact phrase in your posts.

3. Increase Video Prominence

Videos aren’t just for television anymore, and pictures alone aren’t making as big of an impact on social media. The favored form of content has moved to videos.

Unlike wordy posts or a picture, videos cause people to stop for longer! Using videos on social media provides many benefits to you and your viewers, like increasing viewer knowledge of services or products. This can lead to an increase in sales or web traffic.

There has also been an increase in the value of story posting. Instagram, Snap Chat, and Facebook stories have overtaken much of social media. Although it disappears after 24 hours, it is a quick way to keep viewers engaged. They allow you to post multiple times a day without annoying your viewers. Adding videos to your pages can also help increase trust through showing viewers who you “really” are—it gives a face to you and your business.

4. Make it Personal

People want to feel like they matter. Tailoring your marketing campaigns to individual interests will help capture viewers’ attention. Capturing new clients can be difficult at times. Developing meaningful engagements with your current clients will keep them coming back. This also will help increase their trust by providing a “human feel.” When they feel like they matter and trust your business, they’re more likely to refer your services to others, further increasing your business.

You may also want to start focusing on sending out personal messages to your followers on social media. Utilize chatbots to promote new products or services and increase your client’s customer service experience.

5. Boost Those Posts

Understanding your organic marketing method is important, but increasing trends show that alone is not enough. With how social media algorithms are changing, businesses will need to start investing into various paid advertising—social media advertisements, sponsored posts, boosted posts, etc.—to remain in the public’s mind. This doesn’t have to be a bank-breaking investment, though. As the classic phrase goes, a small amount can go a long way.
