FacebookFacebook is a great platform to help increase brand awareness for your business. If you don’t use Facebook to advertise for your business, you should start. If you already use Facebook to advertise,  it can be difficult to know how to design ads that fit specific criteria that are also going to get good engagement. When making the effort to advertise on Facebook, you want to make sure your ads are effective. Here are three tips for designing ads on Facebook.

1. Make sure your text does not cover more than 20% of the image. People prefer content that has minimal text. Facebook requires that the images being used in their ads do not have text covering more than 20% of the image being used. Images with minimal text makes your content more engaging and also makes sure that people are seeing high-quality content.  Facebook has a grid tool that makes it easy to see if an ad images meet this requirement.

To use the grid tool, upload the image you want to Facebook. A grid will appear over it and you select all of the boxes that contain text. Facebook will tell you what percentage of that image is text and if the image is 20% text or less, you are in the clear.

2. Add a call-to-action button. Business can connect better to their audience and drive sales with the call-to-action button(s). There is a “call now” button that will dial your business if clicked and a “get directions” button that guides people to your location when clicked. The call-to-action buttons are beneficial because they help target people near your business and they are easy to set up.

3. Try advertising with a video. People are more engaged when videos are used in ads. The key is to make sure that videos are short and capture the audience’s attention right away. People like content that gives a behind-the scenes look at a business, this helps create a connection. It’s also important to make sure videos target a specific audience segment so people are being shown content that they find relevant.
