Stellar Cares: COTS Day
On Friday, December 20, a group of stellar individuals gathered for a day of giving back to the community for COTS in Appleton. The Stellar Blue Crew spent time that morning organizing gifts for residents and painting the recreation room a rather appealing shade of blue (wink, wink).
Stellar Blue sent nine eager crew members to COTS in Appleton with one goal in mind: to help in any way possible. Upon arrival, the group split into two teams. One group was tasked with filling and organizing gift bags for people at the shelter because not a single person should have to miss out on the holiday festivities. The other group rolled up their sleeves and busted out their paint brushes to give the recreation room a face lift. Armed blue paint, big smiles and bags of gifts, the two groups succeeded being a part of their very own holiday miracle.
“This is what the holiday season is all about, said Stellar Blue Project Manager Jessica Michels. “To give back to a community we care so much about is what makes days like this so fulfilling.”
COTS, Inc. is a non-profit organization that was first established in 1998 that is geared towards ending homelessness in the Fox Valley. They provide transitional shelter for people in need within the Outagamie, Winnebago and Calumet counties. On any given day, COTS shelters more than 60 individuals and helps them make the transition to self-sufficiency and living independently in the community. On top of ushering these people back into the community, COTS provides two years of Aftercare Services to ensure the transition is moving along at a successful pace.
We could not be more thankful for the opportunity to work with such a selfless organization.
