Metadata and Content Go Hand in Hand

posted on October 20, 2016

Metadata is defined as a set of data that describes and gives information about other data. That definition in and of itself is a little confusing. “Data that describes other data.”

Let’s start from the beginning.

In the perfect scenario, you are looking for someone to design, for your business, the website of your dreams. Once you have selected a Stellar company to create this website for you, there are a number of things that begin to happen. While our Developers and Programmers are doing all of the website construction, our marketing team is simultaneously working to make sure the content going on this new website is quality.

Our marketing team starts by doing what is called a ‘keyword research.’ The purpose of this is to figure out which industry terms are performing well in a Google search, these words are considered quality. You know the words are quality when they have the ideal blend of daily usage and a comparatively low number of indexed pages that you will be competing against.  Our marketing team creates as many keyword variations from these high performing industry terms as possible while working with clients to make sure the terms are related to the goals of the business.

In addition to new website content, this list of keywords can also be used in press releases, blog posts and social hashtags.

The keyword research is done, and the new website content writing is coming to a close. Now we hit the home stretch in the process by creating metadata. If the research has resulted in a number of high-performing keywords, the metadata creation is simple and straightforward. This process includes pulling quality words from the keyword research document that also exist on that new page of your website.

Sometimes, however, things don’t go as planned. Maybe you have a contact or quote page that includes little to no content. In situations where we find it difficult to create metadata for pages, Stellar Blue goes the extra mile by working diligently with our clients to find the metadata that works best for them.

When creating metadata, the ultimate goal is to use high performing keywords to help with your website’s overall rating. Are you looking to have some work done on your website?
